CMF Design

The goal of this project was to identify trends from a wide range of industries and apply them to the consumer electronics market. I 3D modeled a simple VR headset that would work as a vehicle for rendering applications of popular trends.

NEON POP

Neon color pops started as a trend in athletic wear, but quickly found their way to high-fashion, on designer handbags, and automotive design, with bright colored brake calipers and trim details on gray and silver vehicles.

BLACK on BLACK

While bright colors are fun, consumers tend to buy black products over their eccentric counterparts. Mixing gloss black and matte black is a fun way to highlight details while appealing to many consumers.

GRADIENTS

Colorful gradients became popular again with girls dying their hair in ombres, first from natural color to another natural color, then from natural color to bright colors. The gradient is now prevalent on everything from athletic wear to app design. IMD printing allows you to apply gradients to injection molded parts.

FLECKS

The color fleck pattern started as a way to embrace the random colors found in recycled plastic parts when the plastic isn't presorted by color. Quickly this trend is finding its way to other mediums including print applications which aren't constrained by plastic.
